It all depends on the type of leather.
A finished leather will not need much maintenance; just a small damp cloth to clean it.
Natural leather is something else. If the leather is dehydrated, use ox’s foot oil. Simply put the oil, carefully, on a cloth (clean washcloth style) and wipe sparingly, then apply it gently in several small layers.
